"I was born in a certain town somewhere south of the Waveney, grew up near Diss, and now live and work in London. I don't get to that many games but I've been a Norwich fan for over 30 years. I've always liked drawing and creating things in my own time, and football is a favourite subject. Whether it's the kits, the pitch under lights, the grounds, the fans, the players or their haircuts, I find the game visually fascinating and a source of inspiration. I've had work featured in previous programmes and really enjoyed bringing these elements together to capture the feel of specific matches from the past.

For this piece though the focus needed to be on Wes. The play-off penalty may not have been his greatest goal but it was one of his most important, and came with a memorable celebration attached. I wanted this to stand out as the subject so made the background very simple, whilst still colourful and giving a bit of context about the match and setting. Wes is pretty special and so it was a big honour to draw the little wizard for the programme cover."
