Norwich City Icons Book Design
A commemorative book designed and produced by Patterns of Play in association with Norwich City Football Club. Icons celebrates the Canaries most capped legends with unique illustrations and written profiles about each player, bringing together the Portrait of an Icon programme cover artwork we produced during the 2018–19 season.
Twenty-three men have represented Norwich City on 300 or more occasions, and this collection of portraits and stories brings them all together for the very first time. From modern-day heroes like Iwan Roberts and Wes Hoolahan, to the stars of Europe such as Bryan Gunn and Mark Bowen, through to all-time greats Dave Stringer, Kevin Keelan and Duncan Forbes, these illustrious men of Norwich are celebrated throughout this book.
Providing a timeless snapshot of the Club’s history and appearance records, Icons is also the accompanying book to the Portrait of an Icon series of programme cover artwork we produced for Norwich during the 2018–19 season. It collates, archives and showcases the series of portraits we curated and reproduces the work contributed to the project by local and international artists including:

Twenty-three artists contributed to the Portrait of an Icon series, with many based in Norwich or having some connection to the local area. Each artist was allocated a different icon to interpret into an artistic portrait using their own unique style.
The Portrait of an Icon series was well-loved by Canary fans and the artwork brought the Clubs legends to life. Each had their tales of highs, lows, triumph and trophies told throughout a season which, fittingly, ended withNorwich winning the Championship title and promotion to the Premier League.
